The phrase "hit the ground running" is a complete understatement as to what this past weekend was. Jetlag and long busrides, along with 5:45 am alarms was a glimpse into my first few days here. With that being said, it was SO worth it.

We headed out of Auckland to the northern part of the North Island, to Bay of Islands. Here there are beaches and boats and tons of restaurants overlooking the view. We immediately dropped our bags and ran right into the ocean -- taking full advantage of how lucky I am to be swimming in February!

After we went for a swim, a local told us about a short hike that has a rewarding view. We trekked uphill in flipflops and bathing suits to the most incredible overlook. The trees opened up to the whole Bay of Islands. We were a few minutes late to dinner, but how could you not stare at this view?!
