So today was my actual birthday. And for some weird reason I woke up with a killer headache!

Dani planned an amazing day to visit Cathedral Cove on the Coromandel Peninsula. Cathedral Cove is famous in New Zealand for being the "hole in the rock." It is on my list to visit this beach and I finally got to!

The car ride was windy and difficult, but that is the case anywhere in New Zealand. If I had known what it felt like to be hungover and carsick, I would have made different choices. I was beyond excited to arrive at Cathedral Cove -- to be out of the car and see this view.

It is a short 30 minute walk to get down to the beach, but when you finally arrive it does not seem real. It was so amazing and beautiful. It seems impossible that a place like this exists. Massive rocks are along the shoreline and are carved by water into strange shapes. Then, of course, is the hole in the rock. This is not just any hole. It is massive and when you walk through it, the most serene beach unfolds before you.

I took a lovely nap on the beach after taking in my surroundings. When I woke up, I was ready to explore. I found a cave on the other side of the beach and I climbed a rock to see a better view. There was even a waterfall. It was so confusing how something like this can be created.

On our way back to the car, we spotted a rainbow, which got more and more vibrant as we looked at it, and eventually became a double rainbow. Like this place couldn't get any better!! To top off the night, I had a lovely fish dinner at cute little place near the beach, then we headed home, all officially exhausted.
