Bali - Elephant Safari

Visit the Elephant Safari Park may have been my favorite thing in Bali. In my research, I found that a lot of elephant parks that tourists visit in Asia treat the animals poorly. It is a real problem, especially in Thailand, because they make the elephants work for their food. Also, riding the elephants is terrible for them. Elephants are suppose to be ridden on the back of their neck, where they can carry the weight. But oftentimes, the parks strap benches on the elephants' backs which their spines are not used to supporting.

Finding a park that was reputable was really important to me. The one we found was a bit of a drive, but it was definitely worth it. The elephants had so much space to roam around but most of them were up against the fence playing with the visitors. There were buckets of bamboo sticks that I could feed to the elephants and they gave me hugs with their trunks. I was able to get really close to pet them. It was so amazing to see how gentle and kind they were for such a big animal.
